best practice for broom care

A good bet is every home has a broom. Most are hidden in closets; behind pantry doors, down basement stairwells or shoved between the fridge and wall… perhaps you choose a place more fitting for your special broom…

Consider the following:

When storing your broom, hang it on a hook. This prevents the broom from getting a crook or bend in the sweep.

If your sweep should need reshaping or a good wash, it can be dunked into water below the stitches, soak until pliable & reform the fiber. Let it dry thoroughly, perhaps in front of a fan.

Hang it in view, within reach - inviting a welcoming relationship with your hand woven broom.

A seasonal spritz of diluted white vinegar with optional additional oils should do well to keep the broom fresh.

Don’t be afraid to trim your sweep after some time. Your average pair of kitchen scissors should do the job.

A sweep can be rebound onto a handle you’ve grown fond of sweeping with.
